What we do

Play Out Hartlepool encourages outdoor play and learning in many different settings and ways

Playgroups

We run playgroups outdoors and provide the footwear and clothing your child needs to take part. There are always lots of messy activities and water so make sure you wear old clothes!

Community Play

We support local residents to develop play on their streets by linking them with the 'Playing Out' movement. Our workers connect residents and councils together to temporarily close streets to traffic so children can play safely.

Learning through Play

Children are wired to learn through play and the outdoors is the best environment to do that. We run teacher led groups in schools that develop learning in specific curriculum areas through outdoor play and nature study.

Connecting with local environments

In areas where housing do not have gardens we help local residents to connect with parks and local green spaces.

We run nature walks in parks and help local communities to access spaces they may not have previously.

Play Power Course

A course to help parents, professionals...and everyone to understand and experience the power of play.

This involves observing and joining in with children's play and reflecting on our own play experiences!

Growing in Schools

We run gardening clubs in schools to help train up an forest of young green fingered gardeners who can grow food they can eat!

Lessons for pupils can be linked to the National Curriculum and we help to grow peer gardening networks where children can pass their expertise on!
